Recuerdos, 2009 - Present
The tale of La Llorona relates the grief of an abandoned woman who becomes mad and drowns her children in the nearby river. It is said that her specter wanders the river, weeping, in search of her children.

Passed on through centuries, multiple versions and interpretations of this legend have come to exist. It is a multi-layered narrative that spans the history of the conquistadors, pop culture, Aztec mythology, and the spread of Catholicism. It is a blend of comedy and tragedy, love and hate, and the past and present. Thus I have mixed images, poems and song lyrics in hopes of communicating the dense nature of this entangled tale.
